The gift holds both the giver and recipient in mind, as well as their unique relationship. When gifting someone you care about, you are able to show your feelings through the gift. Gifts can communicate love, appreciation or friendship because they are often given with good intentions to someone who is close to the gifter.

The gifting process is a reciprocal one. Making and receiving gifts is part of the give and take that occurs in relationships. By gifting, you can make someone feel loved, appreciated and cared about knowing that they will go out of their way to get something for you.

In fact, gifting is such a fundamental part of the human experience that it's even considered one of our basic needs. Receiving gifts encourages generosity and nurtures social bonds. However, gifting doesn't mean materialism. Just because you don't have money to spend on something for someone doesn't mean they won't appreciate it and love you.

It also strengthens your relationship and shows your value in their business or work.  Generally, the most appreciated gifts are those that are not perceived as promotional but don’t be afraid to incorporate your company’s name or logo in a tasteful way. 

Keep in mind that, putting some thought into a meaningful gift highlights just how much you value them and the relationship that you have generated, whilst also demonstrating your desire for this to remain a long-term relationship.  Giving someone something is also a great way to show off your creative side.  Your clients will be impressed by the extra effort you’ve put into their gift, and will be talking about it for months to come, well beyond the holidays!
